Introduction
  • Department Of Dermatology, Venereology And Leprosy, Government Medical College & Hospital, Thiruvallur is dedicated to achieve the highest standards of quality by delivering services like Out- patient and In-patient services that fully meet the requirements of its attendees, free of cost. We are committed to excellent patient care practices, excellence in examination, investigations and treatment and compliance to Quality Management System.
  • Statistics clearly show that the average number of patients in the Dermatology department on a daily basis is gradually increasing on the higher side due to the quality care offered as well as increasing awareness of the common public, regarding skin ailments and RTI/ STI Problems, cosmetic issues due to various health camps being conducted.

Infrastructure
  • The infrastucture includes spacious and well lit out patient department, in patient ward, laboratory facilities, exclusive library, examination rooms, lecture halls etc.
  • 10 bedded Dermato-Venerology Departmental in-patient ward with facilities for cosmetic procedures including Carbon di oxide ablative lasers and dermato surgeries, STD and leprosy clinic.
  • Dept. of dermatology is equipped with well spacious classroom and advanced teaching methods like the audiovisual aids including laptop and projectors for slide presentation.

  • Provision of condom for STI clinic attendees and contact tracing

Academic activities
  • The departmental daily activities include conducting Out Patient Care daily from 8am to 12noon from Monday to Saturday.

  • The above activities are conducted in accordance with NMC Guidelines as stipulated for Under graduate and Post Graduate teaching Institutes.

Every year around 100 FMG CRRI, DRP Post graduate students of DVL, General Medicine, Pediadrics, Microbiology and Community medicine attend our Dermatology OPD and wards for getting updated in their clinical acumen in Dermatology, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Leprosy.


Conducting clinical posting bedside teaching for MBBS students at 8 am to 11 am and also regular theory classes, SGD, SDL, DOAP, Skill lab, vertical integration class etc., are taken by DVL faculties
